History of Bryant Asset Protection

Bryant Asset Protection was founded by Charles E. Bryant forty-four years ago. Trained by the Travelers Insurance Company, Charles Bryant grew the business to become a respected, full-service independent insurance agency and financial services firm in the Capital District. He is a past president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Albany County.

Now managed by Charles' two sons, Jeffrey C. Bryant and Mark T. Bryant, the firm provides a full range of insurance and investment services. Being independent and having no affiliation with any particular insurance or investment agency, Bryant Asset Protection can provide clients with the best products selected from a full range of insurers, mutual fund families, and company securities.

In 1987 the Bryants moved their business to a convenient location at the junction of the Slingerlands Bypass (Route 85) and New Scotland Road in Slingerlands, NY. This location makes the business convenient for most Capital District residents and is only minutes from Exit 4 off I-90.

In 1995, the Bryants expanded the building with 2,000 square feet of additional floor space. The staff was increased to meet a growing client base. With this added space, a dedicated staff, and excellent facilities Bryant Asset Protection can meet all of your insurance and investment needs in a timely and precise manner.

Alfred W. Schermerhorn is a Navy World War II veteran and served aboard an aircraft carrier. He founded the Alfred W. Schermerhorn Agency Inc. in 1956 handling personal and commercial lines of insurance. He is active in the Third Reformed Church Board and the Normanside Country Club Board and resides in Delmar.

*In 1997 Bryant Asset Protection, Inc. merged with A. W. Schermerhorn, Inc. to form the present day agency. In 1998, the Brownell Agency in Delmar was acquired.
